This year is going to be interesting, most important that you keep your hair on! Don´t believe the hype and keep your eyes and heart open.
If only we could change the world we live in for the better as easily as we can change our hairstyles or even the condition of our hair.
Humectants are used in skin and hair-care products to promote moisture retention . Condition is the key as always and being aware of products containing humectants, which are chemicals which attract moisture to them. Products heavy in humectants will only exacerbate problems with humidity-induced frizz. Some humectants can also develop a sticky feeling when they become saturated with water, which is obviously not cool.
With low humidity, humectants can in some cases draw the moisture from the hair cortex (middle,) and in fact cause the problem it was supposedly fixing. That’s why in dry climates it is important to use conditioning products which rely on strong moisturizers rather than traditional humectants. There are new humectants are being developed that perform well even in low humidity (such as hydroxypropyl bis-hydroxyethyldimonium chloride and dihydroxypropyltrimonium chloride, look for either a very wide bottle or one with very small writing).
